Banding together to help animals is a rewarding and worthwhile experience. It’s a chance to make a difference and protect rare species who are on the brink of being wiped out. But it doesn’t have to be one person’s fight. There’s power in the united voice and that’s where We Love Our Planet comes in. The Manchester based organisation was created out of a concern for the welfare of animals and their environment.
They aim to bring charities together into an ecologically like minded community and pool resources to gain support for worthy causes. WLOP recognises there are small charities and groups who work hard to maintain their services and the organistion wants to offer financial assistance by raising awareness and funds. WLOP have set up a Community Interest Company to generate valid backing for other groups. All it takes is donating £1 a month and the money will be put towards causes that are nominated by the community.
We Love Our Planet has the goal of obtaining charity status so all donations can go towards providing a better way of life for animals. It comes under the Twizzle Foundation, a name adopted from the late wife of the organisation’s founder Alan Berry. Alan wants to carry on his wife’s legacy of protecting animals.
Alan recalls how the idea came about. “Lesley and I knew exactly what we were going to do with our lives. We shared a dream to build a sanctuary. We wanted to help look after injured and sick animals, Lesley was never to see that dream come true. On the 12 of April 2013 Lesley passed away in my arms at 11 30am. The most beautiful, loving, kind and generous person I ever knew and had the pleasure of sharing my life with for almost 20 years was gone. She filled everyone’s life with smiles and laughter she was beautiful, vibrant, and she cared immensely about the people around her.”
He has a deep passion for helping animals and wants to see them looked after. “‘The Twizzle Foundation is dedicated to inhabitants of this planet. There are no limits to what we can achieve and in Lesley Jane’s memory I am dedicating whatever time I have left to the welfare of all animals, the environment and the children of this planet.”
WLOP is an example of people coming together for the betterment of animals. You can show your support by signing up and donating £1 a month. Any charities will be able to register their details and gain further exposure. With the power of a united voice anything is possible.
